Yesica Hurd

Yesica Hurd is a Mexican-American children’s author and children’s librarian. She writes reviews for Horn Book and served on the 2023 Newbery Committee. In 2023, she was selected as a We Need Diverse Books mentee for her middle-grade book. Yesica has published several stories in Highlights High Five and has written Highlights Hidden Pictures Day of the Dead Puffy Sticker Playscenes. She was awarded the Richard H. Bell Scholarship from the Highlights Foundation in 2025. In 2025, she was a Hermana in the Las Musas mentorship program. She is also a member of SCBWI. Yesica is an avid reader and runner and lives in the Bay Area with her husband and three children.
