Editorial Assistant
Charlie James grew up just outside Nashville, Tennessee, and chased her big publishing dreams all the way to Mad Woman Literary, where they are thrilled to join the team as an editorial assistant. They graduated from Hamilton College in 2025 with a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing and spent the following summer as an intern at Writers House. They are especially drawn to women and queer-led fiction, horror, creative nonfiction, and anything that’s a little bit unusual. Some of her favorite books (not represented by Mad Woman) include Babel by R.F. Kuang, The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix, Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, and In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado.
Charlie currently lives in the Hudson Valley. She has a cat, an obsession with The Last of Us Part Two, and an ever-growing collection of sparkly dice.
